With Ice 82 we focused our design on a fast and comfortable "all-round" yacht, for demanding owners who desire to win Mediterranean Maxi yachts circuit and long-range regattas.
Hull shape is the result of meticulous CFD research, tested in every condition to be efficient.
Combining all-around performance with special attention to downwind courses for offshore races, and good reaction on light wind and short waves typical of Mediterranean races has been a major challenge.
On top of this, a comfortable and safe sailing during cruising was part of the analysis.
In many aspects, the hull shape is in line with the last trend of high-performance one-design fleets.
ICE 80 high stability guarantee power and easy steering also in strong wind conditions both racing and cruising around the world. An optimized wet surface gives top performance also in the difficult conditions typical of the Mediterranean Sea.
A state of the art lifting keel with a draught ranging from 3,20 to 5 meters provide high performance under sails and shallow waters anchorages.
A deep rudder transmits a safety sensation to the helm-man and crew and maximum and precise control to the boat.
Construction techniques follow the project philosophy. A vacuum infusion of carbon fibers optimizes the weights, allowing as small as 28 tons displacement in racing mode.
The use of light materials in the interior is the obvious consequence of the project philosophy, with interior elements often combined with the carbon structure.
All those aspects will allow an "aggressive" interpretation of the yacht during demanding offshore races without losing coziness and comfort in family cruises.
